A challenge

I could not but notice the indignation on Dartlog over Dartmouth's apparent failure to lower the American flag to half-staff for Memorial Day. This gave me an idea.

In recognition of The Dartmouth Review's steadfast passion for patriotism and free speech, I challenge a Review staff member to burn an American flag.

The only way you'd get me to burn a flag is if it was unserviceable and needed to be gracefully retired.

While I respect the first amendment rights of assholes to burn the flag in protest, that doesn't change the fact that people disrespecting the flag are in fact assholes.

Besides, why the fuck would anyone upset by mistreatment of the flag protest by mistreating a flag? Is that what liberal logic is telling you to do?

    Fucking Lib. What a dumbass.

  2. So now the Dartmouth adminstration is "mistreating" American flags too?

I would not call keeping a flag at full-staff (by accident?) mistreating it. I might not got no logic but at least I know what words mean.

They're mistreating the flag as much as the guards at Guantanamo are mistreating the Koran: they're not, either of them.

Do you understand how crazy you guys have gotten? There is a difference between respecting free speech and engaging in an expression of free speech that one does not agree with. Sure the Review or FIRE could defend your action in terms of free speech, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an indefensible act.

    You're insane.
