Billed as "music history as it ought to be taught,"
Bach, Beethoven, and the Boys offers a sarcastic, familiar, whirlwind tour of the greats from music history. As pleasure reading, the book offers a number of great details and funny stories from the way-side of history. As a textbook, the details about most musicians are trivial, the important stuff, forgettable, and the prose, too sarcastic to tell genuine from jest. In all, a rather frivolous read that music lovers would enjoy and everyone else would likely fail to appreciate.
