Jim Wright gives an identical speech at every commencement, with the exception of the part where he summarizes all of the big world events that occurred during the previous 4 years.
As one of the commenters notes, it's haaaaaaaaard work being a speechwriter.
Well, I assume it's hard work being President, too. But what this really shows is that Bush has nothing new to say about Iraq; he's feeding us the same lines. Regardless, the people in the rarefied atmosphere of the President's staff should simply be good enough to do "haaaaaaaaard work." And do you really want to suggest that the President and his staff should really be held to the same (low) standards as Jim Wright?
No, I don't. Your post just reminded me of that little anecdote.
2 identical speeches a month apart seems a little cheap at first, but it doesn't bother me. I don't imagine that any significant changes occurred during the interval. He (or his speechwriters) had a particular way of making a particular point, and rephrasing for the sake of rephrasing seems a little silly.

It's still interesting, I suppose.
So what if they're the same lines? They're as true (or not, if you believe the President to be a liar) now as a month ago.
